It is time to have a bit of a challenge.
Brosef Dom (my brother Damon) is back from his overseas travels and with the transfer window coming to a close. It is a chance to get his mittens out of the cold European winter and into the cosy confines of a PS4 controller. The younger brother is an often despised creature in FIFA dispatched for many a beating with the occasional victory to rub in ones face. Underskilled, underultized but not lacking the football smarts and sharp finishing to put many a team away (knocking wood on such high praise).
The challenge is to take his beloved Manchester United to the promised land. To titles, to victories and out of the LVG era. This will be without a summer transfer window, it will be with the UEFA Champions League taking the fixture list to the heady heights of 50+ games over a one month period of play.
A direct style of play is the way of the Damon. Although possessing a Mark Viduka like touch, turn and finish he likes to move the ball quickly up the field. Unlike his brother who plays a slower style of game. Building up play and passing it around to crush the opposition. This is going to be a challenge to combat two completely different styles. Time constraints, bickering and maybe even a black eye are heading our way.
The initial formation will look something like this. A narrow 4-1-2-1-2 with a 4-3-3 with a false 9 also being suggested. The narrow formation above should allow for a direct style of play with two strikers. It also provides midfield cover for those adventurous balls lost in midfield (looking at you damon). Whilst allowing for a constructive style of play.
Many of the Premier League sides line up in a 4-2-3-1 or a V-Shaped 4-5-1 formation with a few exceptions along the way. This could prove problematic and it is something which will have to be sorted out rather quickly as a narrow formation can be overloaded against a 4-2-3-1 in the CDM position.
For now we shall wait until the January transfers are finalised before embarking on this mission. It shall be streamed on Twitch (http://www.twitch.tv/elevenbytwo) for those wishing to follow this interesting co-op series.
