After a handful of games we are going to review our initial list of ‘players to watch’ this season. It is never easy to make pre season predictions, just look at Leicester City as an example of that. After a handful of games we are looking over the motley bunch of Mata, Young, Schweinsteiger, Schniederlin & Jones.
Now, this is starting to get eerie like an underwater Jar Jar Binks. The series is sticking to the Star Wars theme as we mark our third episode with ‘The Return of the Sith.’
Much like the second episode of Star Wars this episode was a little bit of a let down on the impressive start to the series. Newcastle & Swansea were played against in the league with a Capital One Cup tie against the high flyers in the championship Burnley.
The journey began in the deserts of Saudi Arabia against the might of Real Madrid. There was a smoothness to the beginning an ease on this world class of difficulties. Lining up in a 4-3-3 with Rooney as the false 9, Depay was found out on the right in place of the injured Juan Mata with Tony Marshall (Martial) on the left. It took but an explosion of pace for Depay to be away and brought down cruelly inside the box by an unnamed Real Madrid defender. Rooney smashed home the penalty and the season was away!
We are about to take stock of LVG’s troops in classic fan fashion. Ripping them apart at the seams and telling everyone how good a job we could be doing. The proof will be in the pudding. Damon rather likes pudding so on that note we are away!
It is time to have a bit of a challenge.
